Cancer is a diagnosis no one ever wants to hear. Unfortunately, the statistics are not favorable as one in 4 deaths in the United States is due to cancer. It has been stated that in general we all carry cancer cells in our bodies at one point or another. The body has an amazing ability to identify those cells and destroy them. However, when the immune system is over burdened due to stress, the Standard American Diet, (which is devoid of nutrients, is full of chemical preservatives and does not promote health), malnutrition/ mal-absorption, chronic infections, exposure to toxic chemicals, and/or heavy metals, the body becomes overwhelmed and is unable to destroy the cancerous cells.

When it comes to the reproductive organs, the prostate, breasts, ovaries and uterus, the body shows clues of an imbalance. If you will, it’s the body’s way of lighting up the dash board, bringing attention to an imbalance in the body. We live in an ocean of estrogen-like compounds. A major source for estrogen outside the body is found in plastics that leach estrogen like compounds. It is nearly impossible to avoid plastics in our society. In Chinese medicine, the appearance cherry angiomas, which appear as red spots on the abdomen and/or back is a sign of estrogen dominance. A handful aren’t an issue, however, a concentrated number of spots in a small area is of concern.
Combine this with white spots on the finger nails, a sign of hormonal imbalance and the plot thickens. The white spots can represent zinc deficiency, which goes hand in hand with the hormone progesterone, the counter balance of estrogen.
Another sign that can spell impending trouble is a lack of moons on the fingernails. In Chinese medicine, lack of moons represents insufficient antioxidants whose function is to attack free radicals. According to the National Cancer Institute, “Antioxidants are substances that may protect cells from the damage caused by unstable molecules known as free radicals. Free radical damage may lead to cancer. Antioxidants interact with and stabilize free radicals and may prevent some of the damage free radicals might otherwise cause. The top antioxidant fruits are: Acai, Prunes, Raisins, Blueberries and Cranberries. Other high quality antioxidants include Vitamins C, E and A, grape seed extract, red wine, green tea and pycnogenol, found in the Maritime pine tree grown in southern France.
There are certain nutrients that are vital for healthy cell function including vitamins B-2, B-3, pantothenic acid, C and E: the minerals selenium, iron, manganese, and magnesium. Complete proteins full of amino acids are also necessary for healthy cell regeneration. If these nutrients are deficient, it affects the healthy reproduction of cells, consequently, leading to unhealthy cells.
Ideally, being proactive can save a life. Look for the physical signs, avoid the Standard American Diet, avoid chemicals, both in the home and in the yard, take a good multivitamin/mineral supplement, (usually a good multi is a minimum of 3 pill dose), take high quality antioxidants and eat high quality protein full of the amino acids.
